Cotton Ball Snow Garland
Cotton balls and fishing line turn any room into a winter wonderland!
A few years back, I started making these cotton ball strands to use for our Girl Scout holiday parties, and of course my girls HAD to have them for their room as well!
This year, I decided to try to add a little sparkle, because I will use any excuse to break out my glitter!
And it looks awesome!
Feel free to skip the glitter, if you’re short on time. I promise, either way, this cotton ball snow will transform your room into something magical!
Skill level:
Beginner
Supplies:
2 small plastic cups with lids
Modge Podge or white craft glue
fine cut glitter- iridescent is gorgeous, but white or silver would look great too!
wax paper or parchment paper
cotton balls
fishing line
needle
Command Strips
hot glue gun and glue sticks
Steps:
Add glitter to cotton balls.
-Pour glitter into one plastic cup and Modge Podge or glue into the other plastic cup.
-Dip one side of cotton ball into glue and then into the glitter. (tip- use another cotton ball to dab excess glue off cotton ball before placing into the glitter to prevent messes)
-Place cotton balls on wax paper to dry.
-Repeat with half of the cotton balls. Or do them all! I’ll never be the one to stop a fellow glitter-lover!
Thread cotton balls onto fishing line.
-Cut a length of fishing line depending on how high your ceiling is and low you want your snowball garland to hang down. (tip- use varying lengths to keep the snow looking more natural and realistic)
-Thread a needle onto the fishing line and secure it with a knot.
-After the cotton balls have dried, thread them on the fishing line and secure in place with a drop of hot glue or by making loop and going back through the cotton ball with the needle one more time. (I prefer to make an extra loop with the needle, I just think it’s less of a hassle, but you do you!)
-Repeat with the remaining cotton balls, varying the distance between them.
Hang up your cotton ball snow!
-Cut a Command Strip in half.
-Peel paper backing from one side of strip. Use drop of glue to secure a strand of garland to the Command Strip.
-Peel paper off of other side of strip and stick to ceiling where desired.
-Step back and watch your family’s and guests’ reactions as they step into their own indoor winter snow scene!
Cotton ball garland is an easy way to add some unexpected joy to your home or holiday party!!
